| For thirty-one
years, Georgiana has chosen, sorted, and selected classroom
programs and strategies that proved effective for students
of all ability levels. The creative, innovative, and
entertaining techniques that she uses as the mainstay
of her instruction are effective and energizing for
both student and teacher. Georgie realized early in
her career in order to reach students with varied
learning
styles required having an array of alternative teaching
methods.
Georgiana graduated from Monmouth University
with a Bachelor of Science Degree with a dual certification
in Regular and Special Education. She holds a Master's
Degree in Special Education from Georgian Court College.
She began her career as a special education teacher
in Manasquan, New Jersey. She taught at the elementary,
middle school, and high school levels to a variety of
special needs students. In 1984, she moved to the Township
of Ocean Intermediate School where she continued to
instruct learning-disabled students but with more of
a focus on in-class support. Her last three years prior to retirement from Ocean Township were spent as a regular education sixth grade teacher of Language Arts, Reading and History. Throughout her career, Georgie has always
maintained a strong background in teaching methods for
reading, spelling, grammar, and writing. In addition
to her normal teaching load, she was employed as an adjunct professor at Georgian Court College, and she has been involved in presenting staff development
workshops independently and in conjunction with Brookdale
Community College.
As a prior chairman of the Professional
Development Committee in her district, Georgie knows
what teachers and administrators desire---not a lot
of rhetoric and theory nor nebulous overviews of programs
speakers have not personally utilized and refined. Instead,
her workshops guarantee mastery of the strategy or program
being addressed. Her subject knowledge and animated
presentation style inspire her audience. Teachers leave
her presentations eager to implement what they have
learned.
Currently, she is operating her own consulting
business for school systems. She provides workshops in reading, writing, and mathematics. She also maintains tutoring sessions in her office for children grades 1-11. In the summer of 2010, she will be starting mini-workshops for parents. These will be aimed at teaching and empowering them to remediate their children's academic difficulties. |
